Stand firm!!

I sat next to my old pastor at a friends wedding last year. During our conversation he recommended a book to me which I just actually got around to ordering from Amazon last night.  It is called "The Reason For God" by Timothy Keller.  It turns out this author has written a few other books.  So as I was scrolling down to make sure I had the right book and I saw I title that caught my interest, but not exactly for my spiritual growth.  The book is called "Farewell To God: My Reasons for Rejecting the Christian Faith" by Charles Templeton.  I read the description of the book but wanted to make sure that the title was accurate and not a twist so I took to the web.  It turns out this man was as big, if not bigger, then Billy Graham while he was evangelizing!  Take the time to read up on him when you get a chance.  Unfortunately, the title of his book reflected what he actually did and that was tosay  farewell to Christianity.  One of his basic reasons was that the bible lacked scientific accountability.

As I gathered my thoughts about what some of his arguments were and why he did what he did a scripture came to mind, Mark 13:22.  I thought how could this man who was a heavy hitter, preached to hundreds of thousands of people, walk away from his faith?  Many of us have known people to walk away from the faith.  Some come back, some don't.  Have you ever thought about your faith?  Would you be able to "hold on" through the hard times?  Can you walk by faith in God or do you divide your faith with other things such as science, family, friends, ideas, etc..?

Belive this

How'd I get here?

Have you ever been in your car driving somewhere and you are playing with the radio, talking on the phone, or zoning out and all of the sudden you look around and are like "Hey, how'd I get here?"  I was thinking about how sin in our lives can be the same way.  We go along thinking "I'm a Christian and I'm doing Gods will." and the next thing you know you are struggling with a sin and are like "Hey, how'd I get here?".

Here's a verse to help you when you "wake up".

God's Free Lunch

So I wanted to share my free lunch experience the other day.  I woke at 6:30 am to get my day started but fell back asleep until 6:45 and then lounged in the bed for another 15.  We've all been there but this only left me about 20 minutes to get ready, eat, make my lunch, and get out the door.  I was able to do everything but make my lunch.  My wife and I had made an agreement to stop spending so much on eating out so I was faced with a decision, starve, go in late, or buy lunch out.  I realized that I had some fruit in my cubicle at work but this wouldn't hold me over.  Since I wanted to be diligent in saving money and cannot afford to be late I made the decision to tough it out and go to work without packing a lunch.

Once at work a fellow coworker came to me to to ask me to pray for his family as his wife was stalked the night before.  After our conversation he turned and left only to return about 3 minutes later.  He pulls out his wallet and takes out what looks like a check and drops it on my desk.  I made a small joke about him paying his dues until I looked at the paper.  It was a free lunch voucher at our campus cafeteria for 5.00!  I couldn't believe it!  I was able to buy a chicken sandwich with the money.

I am a Christian and even though I made a sacrifice, my God made sure that I was taken care of.  BTW, it was the biggest piece of chicken I ever had from that cafeteria in a sandwich.  Praise you Father and all glory to You.
